Over 8 years of experience in the mental health and substance use fields

Hi, I'm Shannon, a mental health counselor from Buffalo, NY. After obtaining my Master's Degree from Canisius College in 2018, I worked in both inpatient and outpatient settings, helping people manage substance use disorders and many different mental health disorders.

This has offered me the ability to develop a unique perspective and approach to providing care on different levels. In 2024, I completed Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) training and now center around trauma-related dissociation and anxiety disorders.

My Therapeutic
Approach

I am trained in many different evidenced-based treatment modalities and draw from all of them to find the most helpful tools depending on your current experiences.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

We'll explore the connection between your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and develop practical strategies to shift unhelpful patterns.

Trauma-Informed Care

I understand that trauma lives in the body and the nervous system, not just the mind. Our work will honor your pace and prioritize your sense of safety above all else.

Mindfulness-Based Techniques

I'll introduce grounding and mindfulness practices to help you stay present, manage overwhelming emotions, and reconnect with your body.

Exposure and Response Prevention

Anxiety is a survival instinct and a necessary human experience. Sometimes, it ends up hurting more than helping, and ERP will help you identify when anxiety becomes a false alarm.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)

For clients dealing with trauma and PTSD, EMDR can be a powerful tool for processing painful memories and reducing their emotional charge.
